  • Artists at Heart is a community-focused organization that provides mentorship and support to self-directed artists and makers. We embrace the values of self-directed education and strive to create an inclusive and empowering environment for unschoolers and homeschoolers to explore their artistic vision.

  • Artists at Heart welcomes individuals of all backgrounds, who are passionate about art and self-directed learning. Our programs are primarily tailored to youth artists, unschoolers and homeschoolers but we also provide resources and support for artists of all ages.

  • Self-directed education emphasizes individual autonomy and the natural development of creativity. It encourages learners to take control of their learning journey, exploring their interests, and pursuing activities that align with their passions and goals in a non-coercive way. Sometimes called unschooling.

  • Artists at Heart offers various programs to support self-directed artists, homeschoolers and unschoolers. We offer visual arts groups, multimedia and technology groups, mentorship programs, and community events. These programs provide opportunities for skill development, creative exploration, and connection with like-minded individuals.

  • Registration for youth unschooling groups will open mid-august for our fall groups. Signing up for our newsletter will keep you informed of our latest offerings and registration links.

    We value and respect individuals of all backgrounds and actively work to address issues of oppression, discrimination, and social injustice.

    We provide a safe and supportive space for artists from various racial, ethnic, gender, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

    To start this ongoing work we have organized our workplace cooperatively and have committed collectively to our values.

    We will continue to develop ways to enact those values and build accountability to our community as our organization matures.
